Romantic getaways are always a good idea. Even if there’s no specific reason to go away, going on a trip together can put a spark back into a long-term relationship, or give you the chance to get to know a new partner even better! Follow these few tips and tricks to ensure you both have the most perfect romantic getaway!
How to Plan a Romantic Getaway
When planning the timing of your getaway, try to book in the off-season to avoid crowds and school vacations to get the most peaceful and relaxing break possible. Similarly, try to think a little outside the box when you’re selecting your travel destination: whilst places like Paris or Rome are beautiful and definitely worth the trip, try to tailor your choice to suit his or her interests to show that you’ve really thought about where they’d love to go.
If you are the planner, make the trip a surprise for your partner. There’s nothing more exciting than being whisked away without knowing where you’re going. If you think you trust yourself enough to choose their clothes, you could even pack their bag ready for them (if not, definitely ask one of their close friends or family members to help!) If you’d rather tell them and leave the packing to them, another romantic idea is to hide a little gift in their suitcase for them to find upon arrival, e.g. a guide book, candy, new pyjamas etc.
When packing for yourself, try to bring as little technology as possible. This is the perfect chance to spend some quality time with that special person, so fewer technological distractions will give you more time for great conversations.
As mentioned earlier, it’s great to think outside the box when it comes to romantic destinations. Europe has so many beautiful places that will have your partner swooning as soon as he or she gets off the plane. Think places like the Cinque Terre, Tuscany or Florence in Italy, Dubrovnik in Croatia, Lisbon, or Seville in summer, or in winter, take them somewhere magical like Lapland or the Swiss Alps.
Romantic getaways are the perfect opportunity to form a deeper connection with someone, or to make an already strong bond even stronger. Doing activities together will give you memories to share that you will always look back on and smile. You could take a cookery class and learn local recipes to take back and recreate at home. If you’re both more outdoorsy-type people, go on a new adventure; go snorkelling off a Greek island, hike along the Amalfi Coast, or climb up to the top of the Belfry in Bruges. You can even just keep it simple and watch the sunset or take a long walk and just enjoy each other’s company.
So, start planning the perfect trip to show your special someone just how perfect they are to you!
