Osteria Francescana is a 12-table, Michelin 3-star restaurant and is owned and run by chef Massimo Bottura. It was also rated as the world’s best restaurant in 2016 by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Bottura manages to incorporate innovative touches and his childhood memories to traditional recipes. Most experimental chefs make unusual foods but Bottura makes food an emotional journey. The most famous dish is the “Five Ages of Parmigiano Reggiano”, which explores the region’s esteemed cheese via temperature, texture and taste and it took the chef two decades to perfect it. The dessert “Oops! I dropped my lemon tart” is made of a lemon tart, lemon dust, lemongrass ice cream and pieces of lemon peel and lemon zabaglione. Even non-fans of lemon will like it! His dishes are as fun as they are emotional, as he adds a little bit of fun art to them. You can choose to either go with an Italian classic tasting menu or allow Massimo Bottura to set his genius free with the Sensazioni tasting menu. Massimo Bottura personally welcomes every guest and frequently walks around the tables and talks with the guests. That kind of service and genuinely shown interest to each guest is certainly not what you find everywhere.
