City of the Week: Amsterdam
March 21, 2016
There's more than marijuana and sex in Amsterdam. This city is one that many tend to visit during a European tour and very few are disappointed. The Dutch capital is full of beautiful canals that all connect to the Markermeer lake to give you timeless photos and memories. The Rijksmuseum has recently just reopened after a renovation and absolutely worth the visit, after being closed for a decade, it still holds the countries biggest collection of art. For those looking for a little more greenery, be sure to check out Vondelpark for stunning scenery and perhaps a picnic. Bloemenmarkt is a floating Flower Market that cannot be missed, History buffs not worry, Anne Frank's house, the Jewish Historical Museum and the Van Gogh museum are all accessible and all within 30m walk of one another (or a 9m bike).
What you must do: Rent a bike and explore, the city is spread out and biking cuts your time into a third.
What you should try and eat: Cheese, Poffertjes (mini pancakes), Broodje (raw herring) and lots of Stroopwafel.
